Why Luminous?
Hi, I’m Alpana, the creator of Luminous.
For years, I stood behind the camera photographing celebrities, entrepreneurs, changemakers and everyday women while hiding from it myself.
In my mid-fifties, I finally stepped in front of the camera in a way that felt bold for me. I shared portraits of myself in lingerie, and something shifted. I felt freer from cultural expectations, from the pressure to shrink, dim myself, or wait for permission to take up space.
Luminous grew from that experience.
It’s for any woman stepping into a new chapter or moving through a life transition. Maybe that looks like divorce, an empty nest, a career change, loss, reinvention, or simply realizing that the woman you are today is different from the woman you were ten or twenty years ago.
Your version of stepping into the spotlight may look completely different from mine, and that’s exactly the point.
So many women spend years showing up for everyone else while putting themselves last. They carry scars like medals, laughter lines earned through living, and stories that deserve to be remembered.
Luminous is not just about how you look. It’s about seeing and honoring who you are now, and creating portraits that become proof of your presence in this chapter and heirlooms for the people you love.

We’ll start with a design call to plan your session, from wardrobe and styling to the overall mood and vision. You’ll receive expert guidance on outfits that photograph beautifully, reflect your personality, and help you explore options you might not choose on your own. Those choices become favorites. You’ll arrive feeling prepared, confident, and ready to enjoy the experience.
Fully Guided Portrait Session
Step into your own cover story with a fully guided, magazine-style portrait experience.
You don’t need to know how to pose. I’ll direct you every step of the way to capture flattering angles and authentic expressions.
We’ll create a mix of looks and moods that tell the story of your strength, style, personality, and the chapter you’re in now.
Image Review | Selection
After your session, we’ll sit down together the same day to see your beautiful portraits. For so many of my clients, it becomes a powerful moment of seeing themselves in a new light and recognizing an inner beauty they may not have fully seen before. I’ll guide you through choosing the images that feel most like you and best capture your story. Your favorites are professionally retouched and prepared for your final artwork to treasure for years.

Your Luminous experience includes a $300 credit toward beautifully crafted portrait artwork, with portrait collections beginning at $1,800. Choose from custom albums, storyboxes, and wall art, hand-crafted in Italy and designed to preserve this chapter of your life. These aren’t simply photographs to store away.
